ANTHONY JOHN GRAY & THE NEW WORLD ORDER

Anthony John Gray is doing something innovative in the artworld.Works such as "PAX AMERICANA:NO.2.POLITICAL CANDY hint at a "New World Order" having moved forward from the first canvas Old Glory
Due to the use of colours, the title of the work is Political Candy. For in some ways that is exactly what it is.The flags are represented in pixellated form as some of them are in a state of retreat and others about to place their influence on world affairs.Pakistan is represented inside the Indian flag construction with two symbols that turn of the image into a nuclear state, which it already is.

On the right hand side is the China flag including grid lines that divide the picture plane.Underneath is a coca-cola can pixellated inside the flag but the can is not an American one but one in Arabic.

Inside the whole structure is the American flag broken up into pieces, pixellated and again put into a butterfly shape thus linking it with the first work. The centre piece contains part of a star and the wing structures are the part of the lines making up the thirteen colonies. There is an overall pattern to the work that draws everything together and after becoming familiar with the power within it-it becomes easy to understand the relationship of colours and construction.

Everything within the picture is carefully balanced on points each supporting the other in some way or another.
